Raytheon’s
MVCS flies two ACR Mantas from across
the country
in a successful
command and control of unmanned vehicle systems demonstration
April 10, 2006 -- The Multiple Vehicle Control System (MVCS) developed by
Raytheon for the Naval Air Systems Command controlled two Manta UAVs flying
in Sierra Vista, Az. and an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) on Chesapeake Bay,
Norfolk Va. in a recent demonstration. The exercise scope included the detection
and engagement of an enemy force by a Special Forces team for an extraction
at another location. The MVCS transmitted command and control orders among
the three vehicles from a location outside of Washington D.C.
The Raytheon system, based
on STANAG-4586 standards, is compatible with NATO information-sharing technology
for unmanned aerial vehicles. For more details
